Slovakia - Day 3: Pezinska Baba to Solosnica

We got the train back to Pezinok and taxi to the top of the hill. And at exactly 7:00am, we are getting better, we set off, again. Trying to beat the heat.

Lonely beauty
Walking is hard
Today we drifted to the east side (Why?) of the Maly Karpaty*: tomorrow back to the west side. But this is a walk not a race – if we wanted to get anywhere quickly we would have taken a car.
It won’t surprise you to here that it was still hot and we saw lots of trees. Don’t get me wrong – the trees are beautiful. The views stunning – but if you don’t like forest walks this one is probably not for you.

We didn’t climb as much today. But it all seemed to be either up or down. And gravity eemed to be againt us going both ways.

Still hot
Somewhere
The first mountain
We climbed Vysoka and then some of us climbed the observation tower at the top. Not I of course, I wanted to keep an accurate record of meters climbed. Not a thing to do with a fear of heights! The views were quite breath taking, even from below the watch tower. There is no doubt, trees are prettier from above.

Down to Solosnica and bus back for our final night in Bratislava. While this back and forward commuting added to the length of the day it seemed sensible especially as there is more choice of accommodation. More restaurants and less to carry.

Tomorrow we sleep somewhere else. Unfortunately.

Actually: Day 3 was postponed as temperatures reached 38C – too hot to do anything.

A view. We were spoiled.

Galdhopiggen – 2,469m the highest mountain in Norway. Another one bites the dust.
