Spain - Day 17: Parzan to Camping Forcalla (Biados)

Which way
We are really in the heart of the mountains now. For the next week or so we will not pass much of a village and simply move from mountain hut to mountain hut. Using the hut facilities - food and water but camping where we can. We have found that we sleep better in the tents. And if the weather is good why not. Plus, I snore so why make everyone suffer (the family is used to it).

Only 1500m up today - an easy day, 900m down and 20km walking. Fun, fun, fun. But I sat that every day.

Between the mountains sort of describes today. In the middle but not IN the mountains. A two day spectacular variation exists for the truly stupid... We are keen but not that keen. There will be plenty of other 'spectacular' mountains. We hope.

And looking at ourselves a rest might be appreciated.

Out standing rest position

Some of us sit for short rests but others just can't be bothered with the effort of taking the back pack off and putting it back on. Instead, we just adopted the hikers resting position as shown above.

The route was pretty enough but nothing particularly stood out. It seems we are getting blase about this scenery stuff. Or maybe after 17 days...

But we can't complain. Don't have the energy. Have a goal to achieve. Moaning about it won't change a thing.

We all go through our own little crises. But thankfully at different times. So we can always share the load a bit more unevenly if someone is suffering. But Martin is suffering permanent knee problems - so his load is lightened almost all of the time. Ellie is tired, as she walked a week before we started this, so her load is lightened. Nora - never carries much.

I am obviously doing something wrong. But with planning around water and food - we reduce the total weight as much as we can. So I am happy.

Not ugly

In the valley rather than over the top. But big valleys.

Mr. Wo is somewhere back there

We have to go - but sometimes the going is slower than others. And it appears that rocks are quite comfortable really.

At least they are not prickly.

A road
Sometimes the path is not so obvious and sometimes well - it is. A road like this is very very welcome on the way down. Saves knees and ankles and other stuff.

We wonder from tree shade to tree shade to keep as cool as possible.

We walked along the road which seemed to go on forever. Each turn promising the campsite but not actually delivering it. But eventually, the presence of people gave it away. No packs, soft shoes and kids toys. Definitely a campsite nearby. The limit seemed to be between 1 and 2km. People tend not to stray to far.

The campsite was perfect if a bit rocky. But here the world is rocky. We camped by Mr. Wo and made our ablutions. The walk it appeared had not tired everyone out - so they exercised a bit.

Push ups

and stretching
To the camp restaurant for dinner and some light entertainment. The cards are the only non-essential that we carry. Well that and a small chemist that we have to take everywhere.

Cards and Lemon Fanta

Lemon Fanta is wonderful - the best type. But is kept from the masses in Slovakia and almost all of the other places we have been. Captains of Industry: #WHY?
