Spain - Day 4: Hunter's cabin to Burgete to the top of the world

Hunter's cabin gate
We awoke to fog and or mist - it was pretty thick so probably a mixture of the two. But in the woods next to the cabin it made it quite - what is the word that I am looking for - thesaurus - no that's not it.

Cold. (To cold for pictures apparently).
Damp
England

That's it. Bloody cold and wet, just like England. So we packed up and left or had breakfast and left - or both together. It was cold we needed to get going to warm up, proper food could wait. Our companion had left - places to go, things to see we guessed. So, eventually, off we set, quickly.

At least as quickly as our packs and the terrain (up of course) would allow.

They were about 10 -12kg each (our packs - just in case you are confused) - we like to travel light and for serious walks this is as light as we can get way with. .

But as we reached the ridge the sun came out, the fog was below us and we discovered that in fact we had died.

And much to everyone's surprise had become angels.

A halo
We each got our own halo. Thanks to the perfect timing - we got to see circular rainbows. Well, almost circular. Because in the middle of the circular rainbow that you see (everyone get their own unique bow) is the shadow of you head.  [So to see the whole circle you would have to be falling through the air, above the clouds or fog - and in those circumstances I don't think you would acre about the rainbow or live to tell anyone even if you did]. These vision lasted for about twenty minutes - the highlight of the day so far.

A flash and staying near to the path.
After this amazing weather phenomena we discovered that our packs were still heavy and concluded, unwillingly, that we were still alive. So off we went.

The weather brightened. There was a flash of something or other. Lighting - a bottom. We stopped a lot to take in the views, to have a rest and or a pee. But always stayed near the path.

To be honest the path is very very well marked. In fact it puts other long distance walks we have done to shame.

A right turn

Left: see a turn to the right. No doubt about where you have to go. You are on the track and the track is about to turn to the right.

Genius - we've never encountered this before but we like it. We like it a lot.

We suspect that there may be left turns too, but we don't have any evidence yet.. So we will leave that one to you imagination.

There was, however, one more. And this one really is a stroke of genius. You are walking along and there is a choice or paths. Or somewhere, they just don't want you to go.
NOT this way

So they paint a cross - to show this way is wrong. It's a perfect invention. One we haven't see elsewhere. It makes route finding so much easier.

We suspect that there may be left turns too, but we don't have any evidence yet.

We camped in a proper camp site - with showers and toilets and other people. really civilised.

Tomorrow we will be human again.

Briefly.

We are starting to fall in love with Spain - and we've only just began.

By our reckoning we have covered 98km only 750km more to go*.

* All distances approximate and we believe, more or less made up.
